58th Annual Dawn Patrol

The 58th Annual Dawn Patrol is in the books for 2009, and the weather cooperated to its fullest extent. Sunny, a slight breeze, and mid-70s. Could it get any better than that?

Yes. Especially when you consider the tandem parachuting Saturday afternoon, a spaghetti dinner hosted by Fowlerville Rotary Saturday evening then an all-you-can-eat Sunday morning breakfast, vintage airplanes, heliocopters (both large and small), Fowlerville's emergency personnel showing off the monster fire trucks while Livingston County's EMS stood at the ready, and a community of family and friends coming out to support this event.

It was a grand success all-round.As my husband and I wandered around, after helping to serve the Fowlerville Rotary breakfast, the University of Michigan heliocopter hovered for several minutes before taking off. We were treated to a hail of grass as it finally lifted off and headed north. By mid-morning, the airfield was covered with upwards to 200 airplanes. It turned into a parade as attendees began their trek home. These three vintage airplanes led the pack early on.

So now plans are being made, no doubt, for next year's event . . . #59 . . . will you be making your plans to be there? I know we'll be back.
