Website 106

Spring has finally arrived.

And, if you are like me, that means spring cleaning. Maybe even a garage sale, or a yard sale, or (as they say in England) a boot sale (as in out of the trunk of your car -- the boot of the car).

Whatever you choose to do, think twice before just throwing it out. Could the item be of value to someone else? Is it repairable? Is it something that could be dismantled and the parts worth something? Basically, give it some thought if what you are throwing out might be usable by someone else.

If you answer yes to any of these questions, head here to a website called Freecycle.

This is a wonderful concept for lessening the amount of trash and waste we are adding to our already overloaded landfills. Millions of tons of trash have stayed out of our landfills because of this website.

I know we have done our part to help. After having a one-day garage sale, selling our treasures at pennies on the dollar, we listed 3 items that did not sell but are in excellent condition. The right buyer just did not happen upon us.

But now, thanks to Freecycle, those items are not in the landfill and are enjoying a second life with someone else.

And, you know, you can do a little browsing yourself. You just might find something of value to you.
